Testing is for the birds!!!!
I am sooooooo very bored. I hate testing. Yea for the first hour it was cool. I got alot done. But after that it is snooze city. I keep trying to find things that I can do here without having to move around alot or make alot of noise. I also think the testing is so ass backwards. How do they expect kids to plan out a story and write in only 25 minutes. More than half my kids were scrambling when I gave them the 10 and 5 minute warnings. Then there is the stupid reading part. First, a few of my kids were asking if they circle the letter they want to choose on the test or do they put it in the answer folder. Duhhh did you not just hear me tell you the directions and show you were to put them??? They have 45 minutes to read and answer 10 MC questions and 2 short answer. ALL of my kids were done before time. Even my slowest of the slow students were done way ahead of the time they were given. Make sense? I think not!!!!!

That's funny... I proctored one period of GEPA each day... My kids take the NJASK next week.. It should be interesting... You do all you can do... It's up to them... I can't wait until it's over though...
My students were done early too, even the ones who generally take a LONG time. I felt like I had "cabin fever" while proctoring the test. Like you said, I too got tons of stuff done... but after awhile, I got to thinking that I'd rather be teaching and interacting with my students than just sitting in a room with 26 stone-silent children amidst reading pointless reading selections and stupid writing prompts:) My 7th graders had to write a persuasive essay yesterday and one today--what's the point of two?
Don't get me started on this testing BS.It ought to be a criminal offense, especially against many of the special needs kids who JUST CAN'T DO IT. And next week, (I am informed) the NJASK is even longer. I'm going to do something for my kids when this is all over. In the meantime, I know I (As well as the student must just get through it!
